Demon Slayer's Tanjirou Kamado

Tanjirou Kamado is the main protagonist in Koyoharu Gotouge's story. This character is one of a kind, making this story even more action packed and wholesome at the same time as we watch him develop throughout.

Tanjirou Kamado, a 13 (15 later) year old boy, wearing a green and black checkered Haori, a Japanese jacket, and casual clothing (later to wear Demon Slayer uniform). He is a hard-working, kind-hearted person. His daily job was to help his family in selling coal and earning money as they were consumed by debt. Tanjirou also hates being in debt and is quite funny to see him pay off money without accepting anyone's genuine disinterest.

At the start of the story, Tanjirou had to endure the pain of his family's murder caused by a demon, only leaving his sister alive but transformed into a demon, creatures that are held as dangerous, man-eating beings that only thrive at night. Tanjirou had to grow up quickly, learn from his mistakes, and live by himself protecting and taking care of his sister, preventing her from eating any humans. This escalation and 'plot twist' changed the story and the character very much. His traits soon turned vengeance-like adding a new one, 'hatred' towards his family's murderer.

Tanjirou had to go through vigorous training by his mentor, Sakonji Urokodaki. He faced countless training hours involving physical, mental, and emotional strengthening. He showed mistakes and achievements in each session, hence showing his hard-working and dedicational traits. This training is of good use for him in battle with demons as he goes on his journey.

Tanjirou shows mercy and hatred towards demons at the same. It's amazing and beautiful to see such anger towards these creatures and also being sorrowful for their actions, like they deserve to be free of their demonic selves and be born human again. He shows such sorrow to each demon he faces in his battle, as in when he battled the Hand Demon during his time at the final selections. Despite having his comrades being eaten alive by this demon, he eventually used his training and abilities to show his bravery and kindness to these demons.

There is more to his story than explained. His characteristic traits evolve as he goes through his journey to conquer each challenge, meeting new people, ending up hunting down his family's killer. Tanjirou kamado is a precious gem for this story and hopefull will be shown as so in the anime.
